The students completed a bell ringer that stretches their math abilities a bit. I have them solve for variables that had negative exponents and solve for variables that had positive exponents that were not 2. Although many did not know how to solve the problems directly, many used the guess and check method and still got a close enough answer to suffice my requirements (rounding to 2 decimal places).
After the bell ringer, the students completed an activity in which they had to come up with reasons why we have to eat. I had trouble with students writing obvious answers such as "to live" or "because we'll die if we don't". I probably need to reword the question a bit to make sure answers like this do not happen again.
From there, we organized the ideas as table groups and then posted them onto my wall on wallwisher.com/ctrastem. Once they were posted on the site, we organized them into groups.
